슬며시 지혜로운 악단의 구연동화(口演動話) SHADY 1st Album 《Gory Tale》
셰이디(SHADY)는 고어한 본능 속에서 드러나는 생기와 일말의 광기를 섞는 밴드다. 거기엔 포지션 별로 또렷한 소리와 기운, 가사가 있다. 그리고 지금 여기에는 그들의 데뷔 앨범 [Gory Tale]이 놓여 있다.
밝지 않은 동화라는 인상 가운데 작품을 조감한다. 선물처럼 받아든 여덟 곡들에서는 낯익은 음계가 흐른다. 무대에서 먼저 만난 곡조라 하여 음원이 아쉬운 역전 현상은 없다. 생각하자면 여기에도 모종의 까닭은 있다. 청자는 완성품으로 엮인 셰이디의 트랙에 조금 더 귀를 대어 이 앨범이 무언가를 논하려 한다는 예술적 의식을 밀접하게 감득할 수 있기 때문이다. 그건 우의적으로 비쳐진 세인의 상징계를 묘사하는 방법론이다. ‘예술은 심화된 형태의 놀이’라는 바그너(Richard Wagner)의 말을 실감한다. 이런 맥락에서 이 앨범은 무대에서 현현한 작가들의 지향성이 물성을 띤 이야기로 품화(品化)한 것이다. 이 데뷔작은 그러한 의지를 넉넉하게 다듬고 거두어 낸 소출(所出)이다.
‘하드 록을 기반에 둔 얼터너티브’라는 장르적 직접성과 첨예한 시선으로부터 비롯하는 언어적 은유의 감각질이 고루 모여들어 앨범의 척수를 조성하고, 이야기의 꼬리는 잘릴 겨를 없이 이어진다. 앨범의 유의미한 구석을 하나의 수사로써 드러낼 적에 결국 이건 텍스트와 텍스쳐의 연금술이다. 잇따르는 사운드의 세기를 자유로이 넘고 타며 볼륨감을 확보하고, 전율을 부과하는 순간을 특정할 새 없이 8곡의 메시지는 컨셉추얼하고 유기적인 차원을 이룬다. 이건 유사 인간에 관한 얼치기 문학 따위가 아니다. 구태의연한 일상과 세속 즉 논픽션 앞에서 사디스트가 되는지 마조히스트가 되는지를 선고받는 인간을 그린 픽션이다. 그러니 이 앨범이 표준적 삶의 원리에 초보적으로 노출되는 자들을 위무하는 에세이거나 마냥 괴이한 환상 동화일 수 없는 건 분명하다. 현실에 비치고 현실에 의해 빚어진 시속의 우화이다. 오욕(五慾)으로 뻗친 인간 군상의 촉수와 속된 바람을 갈구하는 심리에 투항하는 자들의 수챗구멍 같은 심보가 항존한다. 고통은 영혼의 향락을 증험하는 것이기에 이야기는 ‘몰아치고, 내리치고, 소리치는’ 인자들 간의 각축으로 마무리된다. 그로써 셰이디의 첫 작품은 거의 모든 인간이 결여하며 사는 것과 결핍되어 있지 않으려는 걸 상기하고 상상할 수 있는 지시체가 된다.
적응이란 말의 존재 의미를 재고한다. 그건 관습적으로 익숙해진다는 게 아니다. 적응은 영국의 철학자 화이트헤드(Alfred N. Whitehead)가 “가능한 걸 현실적인 걸로 변형시켜 가는 과정”이라 일컫는 생명의 양상과 같은 일이다. 셰이디는 자신들의 정체성을 적응시키는 동력 사이 일단의 좌표에 잘 이르렀다. 이들은 음표와 기표에 깃든 그림자가 결코 사멸하지 않을 밴드다. 말하건대 [Gory Tale]은 오랜 세월 발기돼 온 인간의 공속적 감성을 더께 삼아 축조한 움집이다.

1. Order cancellation
- Cancellation cannot be made after 12:00p.m. on the next day of the order date, though the shipment hasn’t begun.
- If the product hasn’t shipped yet, the cancellation can be made before 12:00p.m. on the next day of order date through email.

2. Exchange/Refund
- Exchange/refund request can be registered through email within 7 days after delivery.
- The round-trip shipping rate is charged to the customer for exchange/refund due to customer’s private reasons.
- If refund is approved after request, then we will guide you in regard to the refund charge and round-trip delivery fees.
