한 사내가 있다. 그의 눈앞에 펼쳐져 있는 것은 낯선 도시의 풍경. 공기부터 사람들까지 모든 것이 그에겐 아직 낯설기만 하다.

한참을 세차도 하지 않은 듯한 낡은 차의 문을 열고 선 그는 입에 물고 있던 담배를 한 모금 깊게 빨아 마시고는 올라타 시동을 건다.

그리고 그는 복잡한 도시의 도로를 자신의 복잡한 마음만큼 휘청거리며 달려간다.

위험천만한 도로 위에서 그는 비틀거리는 자신의 모습을 본다. 바로 사고직전의 ‘추월차로’ 위에서 말이다.

일본 후지TV의 글로벌 오디션 프로그램인 ‘AISA VERSUS’에 출연,

위클리 챔피언으로 선정되는 등 그 활동영역을 국내에 국한시키지 않고 해외로 넓혀가며 그 음악성을 인정받고 있다.

이런 다섯 남자가 들려주는 이스턴 사이드킥의 세 번째 EP앨범 ‘추월차로’는 게러지 락 음악에

서정적인 동양적 정서가 짙게 묻어 나오는 그들만의 음악적 색깔과 함께 거칠지만 솔직한 가사와 데뷔앨범답지 않은

완성도 높은 사운드로 평단의 주목을 받았던 이스턴 사이드킥의 정규 1집 ‘The First’의 발매 이후 1년 만에 발표되는 EP앨범이다.

앨범의 시작을 알리는 첫 곡 ‘묽은 밤’은 길게 늘어선 가로등이 노란 불을 밝히고 있는

도로를 바람을 가르며 달리는 듯한 낭만적인 음율 속에서 자신만의 희망가는 끝이 나고, 힘들게 버티던 것을 내려 놓은 심정을 노래한 곡이다.

둔탁한 드럼 솔로로 시작하는 이 앨범의 타이틀 곡이자 두 번째 곡인 ‘이빨과 땀’은

자신을 둘러싼 것들이 어디서부터 잘못된 것인지는 상관도 하지 않은 채 불만만 늘어가는 어떤 한 사내의 모습을

그리고 있는 곡으로 빠르게 강렬하게 질주하는 기타 리프가 듣는 이들로 하여금 절로 어깨를 들썩이게 만드는 힘을 가지고 있다.

그 뒤를 잊는 ‘서울’은 ‘그린플러그드 옴니버스 앨범 [숨∞ 세 번째](2013)로 소개되었던 곡을

새롭게 믹싱 작업을 거쳐 수록한 곡으로 지방에서 서울로 올라온 지 10년쯤 된 어느 사람의 이야기를 담담하게 풀어내고 있다.

마지막 곡인 ‘흑백만화도시’는 이스턴 사이드킥의 데뷔 미니앨범 [흑백만화도시](2010)에 수록되었던 곡을 오주환의 목소리와

함께 라이브에서 연주하던 파트를 담아 새롭게 레코딩하여 수록하였다.

듣는 이의 심장을 두근거리게 하는 강렬한 리듬과 리프 속에 삭막한 도시생활을 그들 나름의 시각으로 노래하고 있는

국내를 넘어 해외 시장에서도 그들만의 족적을 남기며 진격하고 있는

그들은 9월 11일 ‘추월차로’의 발매를 기점으로 다시금 더욱 더 활발한 활동을 예고하고 있는

그들은 11월 단독공연을 비롯해 여러 크고 작은 공연 활동으로 그들의 음악을 들려줄 예정이다.

1. Order cancellation
